The evidence
behind the matrix.
KLI Cube is built from three bodies of research. Each part of the matrix rests on a different one.
Rows: what kind of knowledgeRevised Bloom's taxonomy, conceptual and procedural knowledge in mathematics, conditional and metacognitive knowledge.
Columns: how far learning has progressedThe instructional hierarchy and the skill-by-treatment evidence that responses should match the stage.
Cells: what to do about itLearning science for each stage: worked examples, retrieval and spacing, interleaving and comparison, problem solving.
The combination is my own practical synthesis for planning and reading assessment data. The individual components are well established; the matrix as a whole has not been validated as a model.
